I used the new Trinket Keys to make a faux metal tag from a piece of black fun foam. I covered the surface with versamark then embossed it with gold ep. While the tag was still hot I pressed one of the trinket keys into the foam. The tag curled a bit so I covered the back with big shot adhesive so it would adhere flat to the card. Heating the keys seem to make the metal a little darker. You can see the sample in the last photo. The key on the right was heated.

The sentiment is from Your a Gem. Other accessories: Heart embosslit, Real Red Satin Ribbon and Newsprint DSP

Merry Christmas Everyone

I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday. I'm looking forward to spending the next few days with family and friends. Here's a little Holiday Greeting I thought was cute.

Gone Fishing

I love this new set from the Stampin’ Up Occasions Mini called Build a Blossom. It’s one of the most versatile stamp sets I’ve seen and it coordinates with the Build a Blossom punch. I can’t wait to play with this one some more. I think I’ll design my next online hibernation class around this combo.

 I stamped the circles in versamark, embossed them with clear ep then sponged on some Not Quite Navy. The star fish are stamped in Soft Suede and Crumb Cake. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. I stamped the fish in Not Quite Navy and Pumpkin Pie.

I purchased fish hooks from Walmart ($1.99 CAD for 6) and cut off the barb and tip with wire cutters.

 

 

Build a Blossom Christmas

I made this quick card using the Build a Blossom punch from the upcoming occasions mini. To make the top of the bulbs I cut a 1/2" strip, crimped it then used the second largest petal to snip the ends. The sentiment is from Christmas Greetings. I used a white gel pen draw on some highlights then covered the bulbs with crystal effects after the gel pen was dry.

 

How to Make 3D Embellishments

Here's a short video showing how to make 3D card stock embellishments using your big shot dies. It works well with butterflies, snowflakes, stars or any die with intricate pieces that you don't want to line up and glue.

   

Cone Christmas Tree

I made this quick little tree using the petal cone die. I used score lines as a guide to cut the window 1/2" on all 3 sides. One of the Stampin' Up small cello bags fit nicely inside to hold the candies.

Tea Light Holder

Beveled Windowpanes

These bevelled windowpanes are one of the new products Stampin’ Up is offering in the Occasions Mini. I used the four largest windowpanes to make this tea light holder with interchangeable panels. Use 10” pieces of ribbon to tie the bevelled windowpanes around the outside of a milk carton cut from a medium window sheet. 

 Make 4 panels 1-1/2” x 2” and slip them behind each window pane. You can change the panels and ribbon for any occasion. For the frosted panels I used vellum and the clear panels are cut from window sheets.

Birthday Boy

Here are a couple of cards that would be suitable for a boy's birthday. The window card uses the Bring on the Cake stamp set, the build a cupcake punch and some scraps of glimmer paper. The colors are Real Red, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight

The airplane card uses the Plane & Simple stamp set. The colors are Pacific Point, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. Both sets are from the 2011 Occasions Mini

 

Glimmer & Glitter

I didn’t want my scraps of glimmer paper going to waste. I used a 2” strip of Big Shot adhesive stuck right to the card. I cut two thin strips of glimmer paper, punched out some hearts, stuck them to the big shot adhesive then sprinkles the whole  thing with Baja Breeze glass glitter. The sentiment is from You’re a Gem and I used the small oval punch for the window. It's stamped on Very Vanilla, punched with the large heart and adhered to the inside of the card. The Vanilla Seam Binding and key charm are from the occasions mini as well.

A tip* I should have used a scrap of cardstock for the glitter section. I stuck the BS adhesive right to the card with the ribbon underneath. Not only was it difficult to tie the ribbon but it pulled my top strip down and made it crooked.

To make the bow look full I made two bows and cris-crossed them.
