New Button Video

I've been getting lots of emails from people who are having difficulty getting nice holes in their clay buttons with Stampin' Up's Simply Pressed Clay Molds so I shot another video showing the process from start to finish.

 

You're Amazing

Who says there are no holiday stamp sets in the New Stampin' Up Catalogue. I've been working on a few Holiday cards using stamp sets that aren't normally intended for the holidays. Here's one using Stampin' Up's You're Amazing stamp set. I stamped the air balloon on colored card stock embossed it with clear and punched it out with the 1-3/8" circle punch. I stamped the basket portion on white card stock and embossed it with pewter. Since I used a white card base I was able to sloppy cut around the baskets and glue them to the card base without anyone noticing my messing cutting (love that). I drew some loops on my ornaments with a silver pen. I used my simply scored score board to dry emboss lines around the edge of the background and embossed the sentiment with pewter embossing powder.

Nautical Buttons

Did you ever have one of those days when nothing goes as planned? Well I seem to be having months of those days. I've had several emails asking me how I make my buttons so last night the house was quiet, I shot a button video (plus a couple of videos for some new things I've been working on) got up early this morning to upload it and it keeps freezing. Crap. Now I have to reshoot the video but our house has been like Grand Central Station all morning with friends neighbours and contractors popping in.

On the upside. When I was shooting my video I was showing how I colored the buttons with marker and I liked how it turned out when the stitches on the big button aren't colored so I left my marker flat and colored the rest of the button that way. I put together this sailboat card to go with my new button. for the boat I used the Oval Accent Bigz Clear die. The waves were made with the large scallop edgelit and for the thread in the button I cut 2 thin strips of card stock and threaded them through the holes.

I'm a Little Slow

I owe my readers a HUGE apology. For several years now I’ve been referring to the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets as Big Shot Adhesive.  I read a comment today saying that it had retired and almost had a coronary. I jumped up and ran for my catalogue; good thing the cat wasn’t in his usual spot at my feet or poor Fat Head would’ve been flattened.  I discovered it isn’t retired and that all this time I’ve been calling it by the wrong name. Now I’m not sure where I even got that name from 

Anyway all the times when I refer to Big Shot Adhesive in my posts and videos I was talking about the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets found on page 174 in the 2013/2014 Stampin’ Up catalogue. I’m so glad they didn’t retire. This adhesive really does have multi purposes and I use it all the time.  

Homemade Washi Tape

I was working on my display projects for Convention and wanted to use some Washi Tape on one of my Scrapbook pages. I didn't have any that coordinated with my page so I thought I'd try my hand at making my own Washi Tape. I was really happy with how it turned out so I'll definately be making some more.

I should run you through my failed attempts before I get to the good stuff. I stamped on filter paper, tore it with my paper trimmer, stamped another piece cut it with scissors, tried gluing it with Tombow but the glue bled through and was sticky on both sides, stamped another piece, cut it out with scissors, tried gluing it down with a two way glue pen, wouldn't stick to anything except my fingers, got out my big shot adhesive and it worked like a charm. Why can't I ever start where I finished off? 

So....here's how you make Self Adhesive Washi Tape with Stampin' Up Products. Stick a piece of Stampin' Up Creped Filter Paper to a piece of Big Shot Adhesive, stamp it, cut it into strips (with your paper trimmer) and it's ready use. I tore the paper strip to the length I needed, removed the backing from the adhesive and stuck my Handmade Washi Tape to my project (which I can't show you until after convention)
