Fry Box Gift Card Holder

Turn your favorite Stampin' Up Fry Box into a gift card holder. I didn't have time to pretty up my Fry Box this week; my mother-in-law is camping out in my stamp room but I did get a chance to sneek in and crank out a quick sample from  DSP. Cut out one fry box plus a partial one from the same card stock or DSP.  I trimmed the partial box along the curved bottom edge, put glue on the bottom and sides and attached it to the full box. If desired you can cut a half circle out of the top. Make up your fry box and slip your gift card into the pocket.

Fry Box Dress Cards

It's Fry Day! Time for another Fry Box Project. This week I have some dress cards made from the Fry Box Die. I cut two Fry Boxes; one from Designer Series Paper and the other from coordinating card stock. I scored the card stock box  1-1/2" from the top, put glue on the card stock only above the score line and glued the DSP box to it. The back layer will bend at the score line when you open your card.

Once the two layers are glued together trim the sleeves and skirt as show below. If you're adding an apron trim it according to the photo and glue it to the front of the dress card. To add the ruffles to the neckline I punched 4 small scalloped circles and glued them in place before glueing the card front and backs together. They don't show on the inside of the card.

Baker's Twine Storage

I really dislike kinks in my baker's twine so I like winding it onto something round. I looked for some cute spools like I see on everyone's blogs but there are no craft stores in our area that sell them. I started using my empty glitter and embossing powder containers until I can locate some spools but now I'm not sure I want them anymore. The empty containers were something I had anyway and I like that they can be repurposed.  When I heated the sticker on the top to remove it without tearing it left some sticky residue behind which makes it nice for stacking the containers. If you don't like loose ends just open the lid and tuck the end inside.  

Yay! It's Fry Day!

My new Fry Box Bigz Die arrived from Stampin' Up yesterday and I couldn't wait to try it out. I thought Fridays would be an appropriate day to post some different ideas I've been working on using the Fry Box Die.

Here's my first project. With a couple of snips I turned the fry box into a highchair. I thought it would be cute to give at a baby shower instead of a card. A gift card fits nicely behind the baby with a little room left over to add a few treats.

Oh Crap!

I tend to say "oh crap" a lot when I'm making cards. That's not always a bad thing. Many of my errors have led to some interesting discoveries like the error I made on this card. Can you pick it out?

I was CASing one of the cards from my Beyond the Season holiday card class which was made with DSP and wondered if it would look too plain in card stock. Since the card is supposed to look quilted I embossed the card front with Stampin' Up's new Triangle Embossing Folder but I put the card front into the folder face up instead of face down and got embossed lines instead of pillows. Oh crap! I put it back into the folder the opposite way hoping the old lines would flatten out and wouldn't be noticable. As luck would have it, not only did the old lines show but they're almost centred inside the pillows. I thought it looked kind of cool so lets pretend I planned it that way. Seems to me you've heard those words from me before.

Blended Birthday

I've been experimenting with the new Stampin' Blendabilies Markers. I like the look of them on embossed images particularly ones that have been embossed with white embossing powder. I wanted to see how they worked on larger embossed surfaces. I tried coloring with the Blendabilities on a solid flower but the markers seemed to melt the embossed powder smearing the image (like on the purple balloon). I tried the sentiment from Birthday Surprise and that worked a little better. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark, embossed with White Embossing Powder then made stripes with the blendabilities markers. I didn't go back over where I had already colored.

Endless Birthday Wishes

 Endless Birthday Wishes is one of Stampin' Up's new polymer stamp sets. It sold out quickly but they just got a new shipment and it's available for purchase again. Yay! This set is SO versatile. Not only does it come with loads of words you can combine to make different sentiments but it's polymer which means it's flexible enough to bend into shapes like I did on this card.

 

The half pompom is made by tying several loops of thick baker's twine together, snipping the ends and unraveling them.

Flower Patch Birthday

I made this card for a challenge on Split Coast Stampers. The challenge was to make a card with gradated Color using a provided sketch.
