One of the perks of being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is being one of the first to see the new catalogue. I look forward to when I can sneak off quietly and browse through my copy. I'm one of those people who can't take it all in at once so I have a system. First I head straight for the punch section then I go through the catty page by page and drool over all the new products. Lastly I go through and look at the samples. On my third twentieth time through the catty I spotted these cute little faux wooden crates on page 148. The looked super simple to make and I couldn't wait to try one.
I used Stampin' Up's Kraft Card Stock which is a bit heavier than regular card stock.
1. Cut the bottom and end piece 9" x 3" and score at 2.5 and 6.5. The four side slats are cut 1" x 5" and scored 1/2"from each end.
2. Leave the pieces plain or stamp with the Hardwood Background stamp in Sahara Sand ink then sponge the edges of the pieces with Crumb Cake ink.
3. Punch handles in the two ends with the new Classic Label Punch or the retired Word Window Punch
4. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear and Tape Adhesive to attach the slats. I tried both and they worked well.
The crate is large enough to hold a gift card along with a few treats.
THank you for sharing this!

So cool and the measurements are easy to get out of a regular sheet of cardstock too - thank you for sharing! It took me 5 minutes to read and make one - great project!

I stumbled across a link to this post from the SU Stamping Party FB page. Love these little crates and appreciate your efforts to recreate the pic on page 148 of the new cattie. Excellent. Thanks Jackie.
