Serene Scenery Daisies

Stampin' Up's Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack is one of those products that you don't think you need but then can't live without. Since you only get a glimpse of the corner of each sheet in the catalogue you really have to see it in person to appreciate it.  One side of the paper is a realistic print and the other side is like regular DSP. 

Today I was using the Blossom Punch and needed several of the smallest flower for a punch art Santa card I'm working on. Whenever I can I like to punch all of the shapes from a punch then use up all of the pieces. It's kind of like a fun little challenge. So.....I ended up with a whole pile of daisies, reached for my new "go to" DSP and made a few daisy cards.

Some other products I used was the 1/8" Gold Ribbon, Gold Metallic Thread (LOVE that stuff), the 1/2" Circle Punch for the large Daisy centers and the Owl Punch for the small Daisy centers. The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment in Delightful Dijon, the frame in Early Espresso and sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake Ink. I also sponged around the Daffodil Delight centers with Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink.

 

Rose Wonder Temporary Tattoo

The images from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set have adorned my daughter Mackenzie's leg on many occasions. It started years ago on a stamping trip (oops I meant camping trip). Whenever our family went camping I always brought along my stamping supplies and on one camping trip Kenz decided that she and her father should have matching tattoos. She stamped a little flower on each of their ankles using Black Stazon and from that point she was addicted.

As a teenager Kenz and her friends would sit in my stamp room and give themselves "tattoos".  There were a few images that were always the favorites. One stamp they used often was Stampin' Up's retired Sunflower stamp. When she was in university one of her friends asked her to accompany her to the tattoo parlor because she liked Kenz' sunflower tattoo and wanted to get one just like it. She couldn't believe it was a stamp and hadn't noticed that it disappeared for long periods of time.

Mackenzie still gives herself the occasional tattoo and I really wanted to share her latest one. Along with the sunflower on her thigh she used the Rose image from the Rose Wonder stamp set to tattoo her side. She stamped it with Black Stazon then traced along the lines with Stampin' Write Markers to add some colour then went over the coloured lines with an Aqua Painter. I couldn't get a good pic but I think her tattoo turned out pretty cool.

 

You Rock

I've been working on a new punch art class featuring the new Stampin' Up punches. My favorites are the ones with lots of different shapes like the Fox Builder and Blossom Builder punches. For the rock I tore and crumpled a piece of Smokey Slate card stock. Here are the punches I used for the face; eye brows: Acorn Builder, eyes: 1" Circle, pupils: 3/4" Circle, nose: Blossom Builder. The Stamp Set I used for the sentiment is Crazy for You.

Display Stamper Submissions

 ETA: I've had several emails asking how I made out so I thought I'd share my exciting news. I got picked to be one of the display stampers for the Ottawa On Stage Event. Yay!!! I'm so excited! Now I'm wishing the summer away so I can get started on my samples. I just wanted to thank everyone who wished me luck. It worked!

 

 

 

 

Origami Leaf Card Tutorial

I've been procrastinating about shooting videos since I lost my old movie maker program. It might not have been the latest and greatest but I knew how to use it. Since I had a lot of requests for a video tutorial for the origami leaf card I thought it's time to stop putting it off and get back to shooting videos again. So...not the best sound or editing but here it is.

The video shows how to make the one piece origami leaf card from an 8-1/2" x 12" piece of DSP. Towards the end of the video I showed instructions on how to make a super simple cheater version from the scraps.

Why is it that I always come across the neatest things online while I'm supposed to be cleaning my house? Then I have to try whatever project or technique caught my interest and put off cleaning my house even longer. Too often my days end with a messy house and a really cool card. Not a bad trade off right? And I can always clean my house tomorrow.

Soooo today while I should've been cleaning I came across this really cool Origami Leaf Card on Pinterest. Since the instructions weren't in English and no measurements were included it took some trial and error before I finally figured it out. I like that the whole card is made out of one piece of paper. I played with the measurements and if you start with a piece of paper 8-1/2" x 12" it makes a 3-1/2" x 5" card with a little pocket inside that will hold a gift card.
