Mason Jar Lit Frame

It's been a while since I've posted videos. I'm not sure why I stopped but when I did, technology kind of got away on me. With a whole lot of help from my daughter (thanks Kenz) I was able to put together a video tutorial for this Mason Jar Lit Frame. 

This isn't a difficult project but there are a lot of steps so I thought it might be helpful to have the supply list and brief summary of the instructions to follow. Whiskey Business

I was really looking forward to playing with this stamp set when I first saw it in the new catalogue. Sometimes with stamp sets I like the image but can't think of enough ways to use them but Whiskey Business comes with several fun sayings that suit the images so I think this is going to be one of my well used sets.

Path of Petals

This Path of Petals stamp set is unique in the way the stamps fit together. The leaves, flowers and sprigs are all separate stamps that fit together so you can easily stamp each one in a different colour.

This stamp set belongs to a friend who was having trouble coming up with some card ideas. I had a chance to play with it over the weekend and make a few samples for her to case.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jar of Flowers Night Light

I thought I would finish off Jar of Flowers Week with my new night light. I like putting a little light in my guest washroom when I have friends of over but candles make me nervous and the only outlet if partially hidden behind a towel bar so this project was the perfect solution. The 12" x 12" canvas is light enough to hang on the wall with a couple of push pins and the battery operated lights are set to come on every evening. All I need now are some guests.

Supplies: Jar Punch, Mason Jar Shaker Domes, Stampin' Blends, Birds and Branches Dies, Small Bloom Punch, Merry Merlot Ink, White Craft Ink, Sponge Dauber, In Good Taste DSP, 12" x 12" canvas frame, dark brown acrylic paint, mini lights.

Day #4 of Jar of Flowers

I wanted to make a couple of 3D projects with these cute little Mason Jar Shaker Domes before I run out. I'm not sure where I purchased this shadow box picture frame as I've had it for a while but these frames are readily available if you want to duplicate this project. When purchasing a frame, make sure the frame is deep enough to accommodate the shaker dome.

The background is a print from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. I used the frame's mat as a cutting template for the DSP. It also gave the DSP some stability. I punched the jar shape into the DSP, filled and attached the jar dome before adhering the DSP to the mat.

 

I cut a piece of card stock slightly larger than the jar and traced the jar shape in pencil. I glued pieces of stems in place with a gluegun using the pencil shape as a guide. Once the stems were in place I spooned in some Dazzling Diamonds and stuck the jar in place

 

I glued the dried flowers to the DSP with a glue gun

 

Day #3 of Jar of Flowers

I love these cute little mason jars and wondered what one would look like if it was sitting on a table. This is one of those cards that's easier than it looks. The card base is cut 6.5" x 5.5" and scored in half at 3.25" to accommodate the table. The white background is cut 5.25" x 3" and embossed with the Brick and Mortar Embossing Folder. Slide the punch up as far as it will go and punch a jar in the background. I backed it with a piece of white card stock that was sponged with Balmy Blue on the bottom and embossed on the top. I rubbed some Smoky Slate Ink over the bricks to make them stand out.

The table is a 4" x 5.5" piece of Crumb Cake card stock embossed with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder then scored @ 1", 1.5", 2.5" and 3". Fold it into a tube, glue your flowers in place and attach it along the bottom of your card front. It should fit nicely right under the jar.

 

The finished card is 3.25" x 5.5" when the table it open and 4.25" x 5.5" when flattened so it will fit into a standard A2 envelope

Day #2 of Jar of Flowers

To get a little more mileage out of your Jar of Flowers stamp set ink up some of the greenery with a marker to use as a border.  For the one-layer samples below I used a couple of post it notes as a mask and stamped a border of greener.

Day #1 of Jar of Flowers

I'm kicking off Jar of Flowers Week with planters made from the jar lid stamp. Just stamp the lid in a straight row until you reach the desired height. It also works well stamped in Versamark and embossed.
