Fry Flower Box

Wow I've had a real laz on lately. I've barely gone into my stamp room in the last few weeks but I thought I'd better get busy posting again so people have something to look at when they visit my blog. Here's another Fry Box project. I stamped both sides of the fry box with the wood grain stamp. I used Stampin' Up's Flower Fair framelits to make the daisies. I cut two of the small 5 petal flowers and offset them to make the flower. The centers and leaves are from the same set. I added the daisies to the front edge of the fry box.

 

Fry Box Sleigh

Here's my Fryday project for this week. This idea came from Mary Beth, the owner of Marshville Chocolates. She thought the Fry Box would make a nice sleigh and it did. Yay!!! This can be a simple project or you can step it up with some punch art. Stampin' Up's muslin bags or 4" x 6" cello bags fit nicely

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Snowflake Gift Card Holder

I was pretty excited when I saw the Snowflake Flip Card Framelit in Stampin' Up's Holiday Catalogue. I haven't had a chance to try out all the extra shapes that came with it yet but I have the feeling this set of framelits will be one of my new favorites. 

I wanted to post a video showing how to cut out the large snowflake using the framelit and how to use the snowflake to turn your extended swing card into a gift card holder by folding some tips on the snowflake.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fry Box Owl

I can't beleive it's Fryday already. This week just flew by. I had a couple of other projects ready to post but I thought I'd slide this one in first. It's made using the Fry Box Die and all current Stampin' Up products. Here's a photo tutorial Download Fry box Owl.

Since I wanted this box for open treats I made a liner for the box by die cutting a fry box from parchment paper.  

Fry Box Gift Card Holder

Turn your favorite Stampin' Up Fry Box into a gift card holder. I didn't have time to pretty up my Fry Box this week; my mother-in-law is camping out in my stamp room but I did get a chance to sneek in and crank out a quick sample from  DSP. Cut out one fry box plus a partial one from the same card stock or DSP.  I trimmed the partial box along the curved bottom edge, put glue on the bottom and sides and attached it to the full box. If desired you can cut a half circle out of the top. Make up your fry box and slip your gift card into the pocket.

Yay! It's Fry Day!

My new Fry Box Bigz Die arrived from Stampin' Up yesterday and I couldn't wait to try it out. I thought Fridays would be an appropriate day to post some different ideas I've been working on using the Fry Box Die.

Here's my first project. With a couple of snips I turned the fry box into a highchair. I thought it would be cute to give at a baby shower instead of a card. A gift card fits nicely behind the baby with a little room left over to add a few treats.

Blendabilities and Cello

It seems backwards but when coloring a stamped image,  alcohol markers ( Blendabilities) work best when used with water based ink and water based markers (Stampin’ Write Markers)  work best with alcohol ink (Stazon). Water based ink doesn’t dry on cello or other nonporous surfaces so I wanted to stamp my images in Black Stazon and add some color with my Blendabilies. If you’re using window sheets you can stamp the image on the back and color on the front but that method doesn’t work when using cello bags. When coloring the sunglasses and flower centers I used quick strokes and tried not to touch the black stamped area with my marker.

 

On the licorice bag I stamped a 1" x8" cello bag with Black Stazon and drew colored circles around the black dots to add some color.

 

 

And now that I’m finished my post I’m off to stamp more samples and eat that chocolate covered licorice.

DSP Card Set

 With the new catty coming out it's time to say goodbye to my Designer Series Paper. Of course I "needed" every last design that Stampin' Up offers so I've accumulated a pretty good stash. I've gotten better at using it instead of just admiring it but I find at the end of the catty year I'm left with some of my favorites...the ones I couldn't bring myself to cut into. Well this year I found a solution I'm quite happy with. I picked a sheet of my favorite DSP and one sheet of coordinating card stock to make this card set which includes a gift card holder, card, envelope made the the envelope punch board and a tag. These sets are so quick to make I'm burning through my DSP stash and I'll have plenty of room for some new stock.

This was the make and take at our last demo meeting and it took less than an hour for each person to complete their set. I instructed everyone to come to the meeting with a sheet of their favorite DSP and a sheet of coordinating card stock and I supplied the Whisper White and Ribbon. This project will be perfect for a Retirement Open House. It doesn't require any prep time, so I can cut the Whisper White as needed and guests can choose their DSP from my retiring stash and cut their own.

Carrot Treat Holder

I wanted to make some quick easy favors using some of the new products from Stampin' Up's Occasions Mini catalogue. To make this treat holder I cut a strip of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock 2" x 8- 1/2" and scored it at 3-1/2" and 5" then punched both ends with the Tag Punch. To make the carrot top I snipped the edges of a 9" square of green tissue paper using the Fringe Scissors. I stamped the  Wood Grain horizontally across the carrot using Tangerine Tango Ink to give it some color, taped my treats in the bottom and held the whole thing together with a brad.

For the dirt at the bottom I tore the top edge of a 2" piece of Chocolate card stock and glued it to the bottom edge of the carrot.

Plant Sticks

I was asked to make a couple of projects with the ladies auxilary of our volunteer fire department. I used some of the punch art characters from my Cute Critters and More Cute Critters punch art classes to make plant sticks that the ladies can stick in a pot of spring flowers. To make the sticks I used the head and body of the punch art characters and glued them onto a wooden stir stick.
