A Gift for Mom

 Because of the Coronavirus we've all had to make sacrifices and adjustments in the way we interact with family and friends, especially the elderly. My Mom has been a trooper through all of this. She grew up in a large family, has many friends and has always been active in the community so going from that to self isolation has been a real adjustment for her. And she's a hugger. When it's safe to hug again I'm envisioning the Pepe Le Pew cartoons when he hugs the cat.

While we can't hug Mom and can only visit from a distance I thought she might like some cards to send to the people she loves. I embellished a card box with Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper, filled it with a variety of cards and included a few books of stamps so they're ready to mail. Some of the cards are ready made and some have interchangeable sentiments. There's a pic of the interchangeable cards below.

The sentiments were embossed in gold, punched out using the Label Me Fancy Punch and can be added to any of the above cards. Several other Stampin' Up punches worked well for mats to put beneath the sentiments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Baker's Twine Storage

I really dislike kinks in my baker's twine so I like winding it onto something round. I looked for some cute spools like I see on everyone's blogs but there are no craft stores in our area that sell them. I started using my empty glitter and embossing powder containers until I can locate some spools but now I'm not sure I want them anymore. The empty containers were something I had anyway and I like that they can be repurposed.  When I heated the sticker on the top to remove it without tearing it left some sticky residue behind which makes it nice for stacking the containers. If you don't like loose ends just open the lid and tuck the end inside.  

Ink Pad Holders

I have the best Dad ever! Look what he made me for mother's day. Wasn't that sweet? I have a space at the back of my shelf so he made ink pad holders to hang down the back which means I can move them around if I need to. On the top there's a spot to hold my reinkers which can be displayed on 3 levels making it easy to see the labels. Do I have the best Dad ever or what? 

Card Stock Storage

Since many of us are stocking up on card stock during Sale-a-Bration I thought I'd share how I store mine. I have a rolling cart with hanging file folders; one file folder for each color and I organize it by color family. My cart is in storage until we move so I have my hanging files in card board file boxes at the moment

I punched out a tab of card stock and glued it to the top of the folder so I can see which color card stock is in the folder without looking inside. I store my unopened packages in a rubbermaid tote so the sunlight doesn't get at it and put a paperclip on the file folder so I know which colors I have in storage.

As you can see in the photo I have 3 extra packs of Real Red and 1 Rich Razzleberry. 

I've stored my cs this way for a few years now and it's been working great. It's very user friendly and it's easy to keep track of inventory. Now...if only stamp storage was this easy.
